MARV Review

Oh, *Bugonia*. Let’s just say it’s less a film and more a meticulously crafted exercise in beige. Jesse Plemons and Emma Stone? Please. They’re performing a tragically understated scene of existential dread while simultaneously trying to look profoundly sophisticated. The plot, which involves a kidnapping involving a hyper-intelligent, space-dwelling alien, is less a conspiracy and more a desperate attempt to generate a decent soundtrack. The visuals? Let’s just say the director clearly prioritized the aesthetic over any semblance of narrative coherence. It’s a visual palate cleanser designed to induce a mild headache. And the thematic exploration of humanity’s inherent flaws? Spare me. It’s a cliché so old, it's practically fossilized. The whole thing feels like a particularly elaborate and pointless attempt to turn a predictable premise into a cinematic black hole. It’s a film that demands your attention, then promptly vanishes, leaving you with a vague sense of…nothing. Utter, soul-crushing nothing. I've seen more engaging displays of boredom. Two stars. And that’s being generous.
